When Alan Turing wrote his first code

Today, I watched this excellent talk on the future of programming. What really got me thinking was Turing's observations and comments after essentially writing his first lines of code (or the equivalent of it in the first ACE computer). After all, he was the world's first programmer in 1945.

We shall need a great number of mathematicians of ability because there will be probably be a good deal of work of this kind to be done

Turing recognized this in 1945 after his first experiences in programming the ACE computer. Today, according to industry analyst Gartner, the worth of the worldwide software industry in 2013 was estimated at $407.3 billion.

That is a lot of good deal of work of this kind done since Turing wrote his first code ...
